So now I'm actually going to blog about something that Cinephile related, sort of............. I guess its more Toonephillic than Cinephillic but here we go...................

Despite the fact that i am an avid film lover, i also have an unnatural obsession with cartoons, i mean outside of watching movies all I really do is watch them. Old School cartoons (Top Cat , Flintstones, Jetsons, Looney Tunes, Wacky Races), My afterschool cartoons (Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Ren and Stimpy, Pinky and the Brain, Talespin, Gargoyles, Batman Beyond, Ninja Turtles, Ghost Busters) brand new cartoons (Misadventures of Flapjack, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Spongebob, Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends) my adult cartoons (South Park, Simpsons, American Dad, Boondocks, Family Guy, Venture Brothers) and even some anime (Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Afro Samurai).

Now what this list proves is that I TRULY LOVE cartoons, as much as and if not more than I love movies. It's just one of those things I never really grew out of, Which is in my case a good thing mainly because I not only know that my inner child exists, the little mofo is pracially running things which Im perfectly ok with. Hell it's the inner child in me that allows me to tap into my creativity and do the the things that I've done. Cartoons def represent something innocent (at times) inside of us, ask anybody from my generation who can recite the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Duck Tales (Woo Hoo) theme songs and ask them if something inside of them doesnt tingle.

Anyway this rambling leads me to the following conclusion, i want a my own cartoon show and no I dont mean one about ME. But I do want to evoke that old school Saturday morning cartoon feeling in kids again in my own way. Not to say that cartoons dont do that anymore but I WANT my own. It's something Im working on right now, I'll go into detail a little deeper down the line but right now I'll say two things (1) It's been brewing in my head for over 10 years & (2) the logo...............

The Meaning Of Life (A Cinephiles Take)

I have this philosophy about life, Whenever I look up and find myself in a situation that blows me away even on the simplest level (more and more often as of late) I think "If anybody would have told me a year ago that I'd be (insert random event) I'd have told you that you were bullshitting me. Life has an unpredictable "IT" factor that can't really be pegged but it definitely keeps us on our toes. It's this unstably stable that IT factor that I'm gradually learning to lean on as a way to live my life. I think people spend way to much time worrying about/trying to control the future only to be dissapointed when things dont turn out exactly the way that they want. Now thats not saying that I don't live my life with some kind of plan in mind I have broad sketches for where I want to be and how I want to get there but at the end of the day chaos in many forms reigns supreme. Honestly... thats life, people always say that they want to ask God what the meaning of life is, and it's easy.....




........... just fuckin live and in the midst of your living and cavorting around youll find a place, trust me. And live the way you want to, dont let anybody bring you down with critiques and adjustments because they don't understand. From what I've learned people are upset by change and whats different (initially) but generally one of two things happens, (A) Eventually people come to acknowledge something different for what it is and accept it or (B) It becomes the norm and everyone follows it until theirs a new norm. So why spend so much time figuring out how to live when you just can. Embrace your idisycracies and fuckin live......................................................

The first is a party that ALIEN threw to commemorate their anniversary, sorry to say I don't know which number guests included the entire ALIEN Crew, Micky Factz, Some spoken word cats called Writers Block, and a shitload of ALIEN supporters, these guys have a serious following..................



The second is a radio interview that they did for a local DJ out here in Staten Island named Emilio Sparks, who was cool as hell by the way, this one just gives you a little introspective into the mentality that they represent and introduces four of the key members of the group..............

Alright so my boys and I have been putting together a documentary about this local fashion line based out of New York called A.L.I.E.N ( A League In Every Nation). Not only are they into fashion but they also do comic book, toys, BMX riding, Skatboarding, Community Service, Hip Hop, Spoken Word and more. We've been working with them consistantly over the past six months putting this together. It is seriously an honor to be working with these cats. I love the energy they bring to table not only are they positive, they represent that HARD WORKING YOUNG BLACK people in the the United States. These cats are going to be huge one day, moguls in the making......................
